The military version of the low-pressure tire rover Krechet is shown for the first time. According to the designers, the civil version has passed trials at the temperature down to -60°C. The army version is upgraded with infrared searchlights coupled with cameras. This helps to get precise image in the polar night conditions.
"The rover is equipped with blackout facilities and infrared cameras. Krechet can be used for border patrolling, evacuation missions, and in special operations, as the engine runs almost silently", Sergey Vigovsky, director for marketing at Techno Impulse told Mil.Press Today.
On the first day of the forum, August 21, the booth with Krechet was visited by the military delegation from Ethiopia. "We are interested in this vehicle. Perhaps, we will use it in our army", said the representatives of the African country.
According to the manufacturers, they already have an experience of the rover export to tropic countries. Civil version of Krechet was supplied to the United Arab Emirates, though accentuated on the engine cooling. "In case of a certain interest, we are ready to produce same military version for export", said the representatives of Techno Impulse.
The company’s officials added that in case of orders from the Russian defense ministry, the existing platform could be equipped with light weapons.
Army-2018 forum is held in August 21-26 at the Patriot Congress & Expo Center, Alabino Range, and Kubinka Airbase near Moscow.
