Being recreated on Ukraine's border, the 150th Motorized Rifle Division will be completely formed by December 2016; it will begin receiving weapons and military hardware in October, reported TASS on Wednesday referring to an insider in the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Neither regional commanders nor the General Staff’s leaders have any doubts that the division will be completely formed by December 1", he added.

According to the source, the new division will be armed with advanced tanks T-72B3, infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3, armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, self-propelled howitzers Koalitsia-SV, and antiaircraft missile/gun systems Pantsir-S.

The interviewee reminded that the new combat unit would comprise three infantry, one tank, one air defense, and one self-propelled artillery regiments. The division’s manpower will be around 10,000 men.

As was reported in June, the military force being deployed next to Ukraine's border will be named in honor of the legendary 150th Motorized Rifle Division that stormed Nazi’s Reichstag in 1945. The new division will obtain the number, the honorific name and the war decoration of its famed predecessor, and will become the 150th Idritsk-Berlin Order of Kutuzov II Grade Motorized Rifle Division.
