Russia Presents New Aircraft Control Solution at MAKS-2019 Airshow

At the MAKS-2019 international airspace show, the Russian company named NPO Elektropribor-Voronezh offered to improve aircraft control systems. Engineers presented a prototype of the electromechanical linear actuator used to control the elevators. The company’s head designer, Vitaly Ilyichev told Mil.Press Today about the project advantages.

He explained why an electromechanical actuator is better than commonly used hydraulic control systems.

"Electromechanical systems improve the quality of assembly and maintenance. Such an effect is achieved because there are no long pipelines or oil systems. Plus, our project is originally designed for the aircraft onboard voltage, 270V, while others are geared to industrial voltage of 380V or 220V", shared the expert.
NPO Elektropribor-Voronezh already provides military aviation with such products as the angle-of attack and sideslip sensors (used in Mi-24 and Mi-35M helicopters), pitot-static tubes (Mi-2, Mi-8, Mi-24, Mi-26, Ka-50, Ka-52, Ka-60), restriction signaling systems (Su-27, Su-30 fighters), computer units (Su-30MKI jet), and others.

The International Aviation & Space Salon (MAKS-2019) took place in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region, from August 27 to September 1. The show attracted at least half a million visitors.
