Drones to Transfer Full HD Video at 250 km

Yurion Research & Technology Center presented at the Army-2019 forum the system named Swift. It is designed to transfer video from UAVs to a ground command post at the distance of up to 250 km.

Swift operates in three frequency bands: 350-430 MHz, 2200-2250 MHz, and 4400-5000 MHz. In the first band, data flow rate is 4 mbps, in the second – 8 mbps, in the third – 12 mbps.

The delay between the signal sending from a drone and its receipt by a command post does not exceed 310 msec.

Except for the function of transferring control commands from the ground command post to the UAV and backward video signal transfer, the system is capable of geolocation without satellite communicators, director of Yurion center Yury Sofyannikov told Mil.Press Today.
"We’ve got two spaced-apart antennas and can find azimuth by phase differential. The range is found by signal duration, and then we compute direction and remoteness of the drone from the command post", explained the company’s director.
The Fifth International Military & Technical Forum Army-2019 closed on June 30. It took place at Patriot Congress & Expo Center, at Alabino Range and Kubinka Airbase. In June 26-27, the forum was open only for experts, and in June 28-30 it welcomed mass visitors.

As a priority partner of the exhibition, Mil.Press publishes overviews of the novelties and business events in the section Army Forum.
