"This objective is attainable by 2025. Fighters will make about 40% of the Air Forceís aggregate strength, the rest will be attack aircraft and bombers, as well as reconnaissance, transport, training and special-purpose airplanes", explained the interviewee.
According to him, about 450 of jets are Sukhoi fighters. "Su-30, Su-35, some upgraded Su-27 will continue service. Besides, the fifth-generation aircraft will be commissioned in the combatant units. The rest are modernized MiG-29, MiG-31 and new MiG-35", said the expert.
Open sources report that Russia is currently operating about 500 fighters of different types.
