EDEX-2018, New Egyptian Defense Show Welcomes Russian Companies

Egyptian authorities wait for the Russian weapons manufacturers at the new military exhibition named Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX-2018) to take place in December 3-5, 2018 in Cairo, Mike Soper heading up the marketing for Clarion’s events in the Middle East told Mil.Press Today.

According to him, the corresponding invitations have been already sent to potential exhibitors from Russia, the talks are underway.

"The exhibition’s sponsors look forward to seeing Russian companies, as Cairo and Moscow actively cooperate in military issues. As long as Egypt declined to join the anti-Russian sanctions, Russian companies will have a chance to present a wide range of their defense products in Cairo", he told Mil.Press Today.

Soper added that the US, Germany, France, Italy, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Czech Republic had already confirmed their participation in the show.
So far, Rosoboronexport has not announced Russia’s exhibiting at the EDEX, but an insider told Mil.Press Today it was a matter of a few weeks.
As for him, Egypt is an essentially important partner for Russia in terms of the military and technical cooperation.

On December 11, 2017, Egyptian Maj. Gen. Mohsen Abdel Nabi declared that would be the first event of that kind in Egypt, covering air, land and sea. "We plan to make EDEX the number one event in the Middle East region", Abdel Nabi added.

The sponsors expect about 300 international exhibitors and over 10,000 participants at the three-day exhibition to take place in the Egyptian International Exhibition Center in Cairo. The scheduled program includes business meetings, numerous conferences, and a special program for military delegations.
